The South Coast

The Beach at the Palm Forest of Preveli

Preveli beach by the palm forest at the Preveli river used to be a favourite destination for hippies. In the 70s and 80s they used to live here in huts made of palm leaves. This is now strictly forbidden.

If you come by car you must take the road leading to the Preveli Monastery and leave it at the parking space approx. 1 km before the monastery. From here you must walk for about 20-30 minutes down the steep cliffs to the beach. It's a trip worthwhile as there are wonderful views as you go along.

You can however also get a boat that will take you to the beach either from Plakias or Agia Galini.

Agios Pavlos

The Agios Pavlos beach is situated at approx. 14 kilometres from the main road leading to Agia Galini and about 20 kilometres from the village called Akoumia. It is a long sandy beach with nearby facilities such as cafes and taverns, sunbeds and umbrellas.

If you go by car on the road to Agia Galini, you must turn right after the village called Nea Krya Vryssi. The beach is another 14 kilometres away from here.

The westward beach is rather isolated with few people and therefore tolerant to nudism. But there are no food and drink facilities there.

You get to the beach by following the road from Plakias to Lefkogia. After about 2 kilometres you must turn right. The beach is a further 1 kilometre ahead.

Amoudi

Amoudi and Mikro Amoudi beaches are two small sandy beaches within walking distance from Damnoni. Mikro Ammoudi is a naturists' beach.
